Affordable Night Ointment for Dry Eyes
My eye doctor wants to use a night ointment as part of my regimen for my dry eyes. I was using some OTC I found at big box stores and other places but did not like having to pay such a high cost.
Then I saw that Swanson had the same thing at a much reduced price. What a pleasant surprise.

Surprised me
I was a bit leary of any eye ointment, but at the absolute end of the day, I deposited the recommended 1/4" and slept all night. The next day, my eyes were a bit clearer and a whole less dry. A tip: don't try to read immediately after application.

Awesome product at great value!
For the past 2 years I've been having to pay $12 for one tiny little tube of brand name nighttime eye lubricant at WalMart. One day I came across an ad for Swanson and located their version of the same item, same size, for half the price and if that wasn't wonderful enough, they had it on a buy one-get one free sale! I order the limit every month and get the same results as I did from the brand name product. This is such a great value and a help,especially in these economic times and with our high medical bills. Thank you!

Great for chronic dry eye
I have an autoimmune condition that damages the eyes' ability to make natural tears, so I have used this type of product and find it makes my eyes more comfortable at night. I find this brand is just as effective and the price is more affordable than the drug store brands. I put this in just before i go to bed, so I don't have to deal with any bluriness. You may notice a little of the ointment on the eyelids in the morning, but I just wipe with a tissue.

helpful for eye scatches
This is very helpful if you have scratchy eyes, because it cushions the eye so it does not hurt to blink. When I thought I had some object in my eye I went to see a doc and he told me there was nothing in it.That I only need some cushioning-type ointment to allow healing. Drops did not do the trick. I needed something like this to provide relieve from the discomfort. My daughter lately had the same problem and she found this provided real relief. No need for antibiotic ointment, which BTW, is also petrolatum based. I think it a good idea to keep this on hand .

Good value and it works
I am so happy to have found this night time eye ointment, because I had tried several other brands that were a lot more expensive, and was really tired of paying so much. Swanson's product works just as well as the other brands did, and is far less expensive, even with the shipping, especially when the "buy one get one free" special is going on.

Did not like it.
I was surprised to find that Swanson carried a product with a petroleum based ingredient in it, but it also leaves an unpleasant film over the eyes which is hard to get rid of. Avoid this product!

Seems to work...
I don't need to use it too often...and I use less than the package directions indicate because any extra ends up on my eyelids....but it is pretty effective. Probably at least as effective as the water solution type eye drops? Not really for use during the day though.

Not so much
I bought this product because I have dry eyes & sometimes they become blood red.
I tried the product but I felt a film on my eyes for almost 2 days both times I tried it & my vision was worse than it is now. So this wasn't for me.

As a dry-eye sufferer, I have used a night-time lubricant for years. When another source disappeared, I was thrilled to find that you have a good product. Your price is very reasonable and one doesn't have to stress over the high prices of over-the-counter lubricants. Thank you.

Miracle in a Tube
I have had extreme dry eyes for years bothering me day and night. My eyes were constantly red and very tired all the time. I went to two different doctors and neither helped me so I felt It was up to me to find the answer. I tried this ointment because of my husband's suggestion. I tried many drops and ointments along the way so I didn't think this would work either, but to my surprise, it did. My eyes are no longer dry and they now feel perfectly normal, opening and closing without any scratching and soreness. I'm now back to having blue eyes instead of red. It's like a miracle. What a relief. It's not expensive so give it a try. It may be well worth it.

too blurry
used this product one night and by evening the next day, I still had blurry vision even after washing my eyes numerous times and using other eye rinses. will not use this product again.

Nighttime eye comfort
I love this ointment. I had been using another brand sent home by my doctor after eye surgery. It was runny, hard to apply, and pretty much ineffective. The Swanson brand has form when released from the tube so that it lies perfectly within the lower eye lid. In the morning, there is no more painful burning. As an added bonus, I like the way it coats the area around my eyes with a moisturizing oiliness.

The product is a god send, but it is in a far too small container for one thing, and I feel the price is excessive knowing it is mineral oil and petrolatum.
Put it in a much larger container and it could be priced similarly to plain petrolatum, which is cheap.
It is difficult to empty the container due to the small size.
But it works GREAT for overnight dry eye problems. HIGHLY recommended, just make it larger, and price it more reasonably.

Very Effective Product
I suffer from extreme dry eye. This product really works and your eye's remain much more lubricated over night and this reduces the redness in the morning. I use it with one drop of artificial tears. You can only use this at night because it temporarily blurs the vision, you could use it in the daytime perhaps but only in one eye.

Helpful Results
This winter I have been waking up in the mornings with red, itchy eyes because it is so cold and dry.
I started using this product about 2 weeks ago at night right before I went to bed. I have about 95% improvement. Hardly any itching or redness in the mornings.
